Urban Tomography
This project is intended to capture various videos tagged by GPS information and
send it to the web storage using wireless network such as GPRS, 802.11 WLAN
to discuss its effectiveness and practical systems aspects of this new area.
Our urban tomography application is designed to enable
pervasive dense audiovisual documentation of city life. As our
neighborhoods become increasingly diverse and complex, such
documentation can enable a better understanding of social
interactions and the use of urban spaces. Such understanding can help
urban planners re-structure existing cities in order to improve their
quality of life. We implemented a complete system for audiovisual documentation.
While much work remains to be done, our system is already being used for preliminary
fieldwork.
